Tailgate Release Operation
When the tailgate handle switch is pressed, the tailgate handle
switch signal circuit is switched to ground. The BCM responds by
applying battery voltage to the tailgate release relay control
circuit which energises the tailgate release relay. The tailgate
release relay is supplied with battery voltage at all times. With
the relay coil energised, the relay switch contacts battery voltage
to the tailgate latch and the tailgate will be released. The
tailgate handle switch is permanently grounded to a fixed body
ground.
